藏花阁直播's Wireless Network

Note: Starting in 2024, the campus network is being upgraded over a multi-year process. As our infrastructure team updates the network in each building, you’ll notice different wireless networks. “藏花阁直播1x” is being replaced with “藏花阁直播” in the upgraded buildings. Community members may need to connect to "藏花阁直播1x" or "藏花阁直播" and visitors will need to connect to "藏花阁直播Xenia" or "藏花阁直播 Guest" depending on their location on campus.

藏花阁直播1x/藏花阁直播 vs. 藏花阁直播Xenia/藏花阁直播 Guest

Those who want to use wireless at 藏花阁直播 will see two networks available--"藏花阁直播Xenia" (or "藏花阁直播 Guest" as the network gets upraded across campus) and 藏花阁直播1x (or "藏花阁直播"). 藏花阁直播Xenia/藏花阁直播 Guest is an open wireless network for campus visitors (Xenia is the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, the generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home). 藏花阁直播1x/藏花阁直播 is a WPA2-encrypted network that can be used by students, staff, faculty and alumni. Guests and visitors cannot join the 藏花阁直播1x network.

Who should use "藏花阁直播1x" or "藏花阁直播"

"藏花阁直播1x" or "藏花阁直播" can be used by all 藏花阁直播 community members including students, faculty, and staff. 藏花阁直播1x and 藏花阁直播 require your Kerberos username and password each time you connect. MacOS is capable of connecting to 藏花阁直播1x and 藏花阁直播 with no additional setup; Windows, Linux, and mobile phone users may have some additional setup required to connect successfully.

How to connect to "藏花阁直播1x" or "藏花阁直播"

Windows users, please follow these setup instructions. To connect on your mobile device, follow these instructions for iOS and these for Android. Linux users can follow the instructions here.

  1. Select 藏花阁直播1x (or 藏花阁直播) from your list of wireless networks.
  2. Your machine will prompt you for your name and password.
  3. 藏花阁直播 community members (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) can enter their Kerberos username and password. You may see a notice about the certification; you can "continue" past this.
  4. You should now be able to use the network.

Guests or conference attendees should use the instructions below to connect to 藏花阁直播Xenia.

How to connect to "藏花阁直播Xenia" or "藏花阁直播 Guest"

Campus visitors including parents and prospective students can connect to the guest wireless network.

  1. Select 藏花阁直播Xenia (or 藏花阁直播 Guest) from your list of wireless networks.
  2. Open a web browser and you will automatically be directed to 藏花阁直播's network registration page.
  3. 藏花阁直播 community members (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) can use their Kerberos credentials to log in.
  4. Members outside the 藏花阁直播 community should click "Register as Guest" and enter a name and e-mail address or phone number. You can then log in using your e-mail address as the username, and the numerical password e-mailed/texted to that address or phone number.
  5. After registering, you may be warned by your browser that you're being redirected; this is normal as we redirect you to 藏花阁直播's homepage, and you can ignore any such warning.

Wireless Coverage

Wireless is available in all buildings on campus, as well as some outdoor areas near buildings. Wireless is not generally available in larger outdoor areas. 藏花阁直播 actively monitors and adjusts placement of wireless access points to fine-tune coverage on campus. Due to channel interference among other complications, users are generally not allowed to operate a personal wireless network.
